About Me

With over 25 years of experience in the technology and cyber security industry, I have had the good fortune and privilege to work with, learn from, and serve, some of the brightest security minds on the planet. At the same time, I ‘cut my teeth’ in security in the mid-nineties, so I’ve had a front row seat to the evolution of hacking and business’/ society’s fight to protect ourselves and our confidential information.

I’m a ‘veteran’ of 7 security start-ups, and was CEO, Cofounder and Chairman of Mobile Active Defense which was acquired in 2016. I’ve held many different roles ( Executive, Business Development, Strategy, VP of Sales as well as product management. I have a proven track record of translating complex business needs into next-generation security solutions, and delivering value to clients through strategic and technical guidance/ recommendations. I am also a certified information systems security professional (CISSP), a certified cloud security professional (CCSP) and have been recognized as an innovator and thought leader in the fields of mobile and IoT security.

My core competencies include cyber security, mobile security, IoT security, cloud security, client solutions, business development, strategy, and communication. Also fundraising 🙂

However, my two main super powers are 1) making people laugh and 2) explaining complicated ideas in a simple way. I can be serious when the situation calls for it, but there is no harm in having fun while we work. Language varies according to style and audience, as my favorite English teacher always said.

Currently, I am a Senior Advisor  at a leading security solutions integrator. I love helping my customers solve complicated cyber security challenges.

Due to my experience in the security industry and with startups, I’m consistently asked for advice on these two topics. Questions like “ how do I get started in cybersecurity “ or “should I go work for this startup?” were asked frequently enough that I decided a book would help people.
